Octomom’s Doctor Expelled From Fertility Society

Dear Students

Over the past few months, The Dean has been teaching the CollegeStock Community about the importance of implanting fewer embryos into a female patient’s uterus during IVF procedures. In fact, The Dean’s post on Friday specifically discussed the significance of Limiting the Number of Embryos Used in IVF Procedures and referenced Nadya Suleman, know as the “Octomom.”

Suleman, then 33 years old, received an implantation of 6 embryos and, as the CollegeStock Community knows, gave birth to 8 premature babies. This morning, a number of news sources are reporting that Suleman’s doctor, Dr. Michael Kamrava, has been expelled from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

One report from USA Today suggests that 6 embryos “far exceeds the ASRM’s guidelines for women Suleman’s age.” As The Dean has taught the CollegeStock Community in the past, $IVOB‘s INVO procedure promotes a maximum usage of 2 embryos for patients. And today’s report from ASRM, recommends transferring only 1 or 2 embryos in patients under the age of 35 to reduce the risk of multiple births and health and financial strains that come along with them.

ASRM also reports that Dr. Michael Kamrava was infamous for transplanting more embryos than recommended, averaging 4.1 embryos for patients under the age of 35. This makes The Dean wonder how many multiple birth pregnancies this doctor was responsible over the course of his IVF career.

Sean Tipton, spokesperson for ASRM, notes that “only state medical boards” can ultimately decide whether to revoke a doctor’s medical license or not but suggests that it’s very important to set standards of care. One of the many reasons for this is because some insurance plans will only cover treatments provided by ASRM members.

The Dean believes that the decision to expel this doctor is an important step in the right direction for IVF. With nearly 8 million people in the United States suffering from infertility, The Dean feels IVF treatments should solve the infertility problem and not create additional health risks and financial burdens in the process.

This is why The Dean believes $IVOB‘s INVOcell device and INVO procedure will continue to make positive waves and successfully give birth to The Dean’s Billion Dollar Baby. As promised, The Dean will continue to bring the CollegeStock Community relevant and factual information about infertility and safe and effective solutions to this problem that affects 150 million couples worldwide.

Happy Trading, The Dean
