Dear Students

Here are The Dean’s Honor Roll Stocks of the day:

$ZQK
No need to tell any surfers in the classroom that Quiksilver, Inc. (NYSE: ZQK) designs, produces, and distributes branded apparel, footwear, accessories, and related products. Yesterday, $ZQK announced net revenues from continuing operations for the first quarter of fiscal 2010 decreased only 2% to $432.7 million from $443.3 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2009. This narrowing loss brought the retailer positive attention and more than 12 times its 3 month average volume, which resulted in a gain of 29.9% today.

$PABK
PAB Bankshares, Inc.(NASDAQ: PABK) is a $1.2 billion bank holding company, which operates through 18 branch offices in 11 counties in Georgia and Florida, including five set for sale to Heritage Financial Group (NASDAQ: HBOS). $PABK recently announced the filing of an amendment to its registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the offering of up to $85 million of its common stock. $PABK moved into the green by as much as 68% before closing the day up 26.88% today.

$THRR
Thresher Industries, Inc. (OTC: THRR.PK) engages in the production and sale of conventional cast aluminum and reinforced metal matrix composite aluminum alloy components for various customers and applications in the United States. Yesterday, $THRR announced the company “received numerous purchase orders for the first quarter of 2010 for its metal matrix composite aluminum high pressure castings and through its active pursuit of numerous bids has done its second tier bidding for another major S&P 500 company.” That interesting news was followed by a press release this morning telling the investment community that the company held a special meeting of the Board of Directors to discuss a letter of intent to buy the company. The Dean thinks $THRR could see some action next week because the company will announce the results of this meeting on Monday, March 15th. Today, $THRR traded nearly 1.2 billion shares and moved up 16.67%.

And let’s replace this nancy boy’s beret with a special cone-shaped hat:

$WRIT
Writers Group Film Corp. (OTC: WRIT.OB) is a development stage company engaged in the production of films, television programs, and similar entertainment programs for various media formats in the United States. $WRIT claims the unfortunate title of The Dean’s Dunce of the day because this penny stock fell 73.33%.

Happy Trading, The Dean
