Honor Roll Stocks: $CNAM, $CWTR and $PPCO

Here are The Dean’s Honor Roll Stocks of the Day:

$CNAM
China Armco Metals, Inc. (AMEX: CNAM) imports metal ores from suppliers in Brazil, India, South America, Oman, Turkey, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and resells the metal ores in China. Early this morning, $CNAM announced the signing of a contract to supply a major Chinese steel producer with up to 230,000 tons of scrap steel in 2010; a deal worth more than $100 million. As a result, $CNAM became an early volume play, trading 64 times the stocks 3 month average volume and closing 60.38% in the green.

$CWTR
Coldwater Creek Inc. (NASDAQ: CWTR) operates premium retail stores and merchandise clearance outlet stores; and day spas, which offer various spa treatments, including massages, facials, body treatments, manicures, and pedicures, as well as an assortment of relevant apparel and lines of personal care products for women. Yesterday at market close, $CWTR announced strong Q4 and fiscal 2009 results, with net sales of more than $1 billion. Today, $CWTR traded more than 4 million shares and took home 24.03%.

$PPCO
Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. (NASDAQ: PPCO) develops pharmaceutical products based on drug delivery technologies with focus on products that address disorders of the nervous system. This morning, $PPCO announced its Q4 and fiscal 2009 results, including total revenues of $23.8 million, compared with $8.5 million for the year ended December 31, 2008—an increase of 227%, due to royalties from Endo (NASDAQ: ENDP) on its net sales of Opana ER. As a result, $PPCO traded 16 times its 3 month average volume and closed the day up 18.78% in green territory.

$POKR
Poker Magic, Inc. (OTC: POKR.OB) is a development stage company focused on marketing and licensing a form of poker-based table game to casinos and on-line gaming facilities in the United States. $POKR certainly doesn’t have any tricks up their sleeves, plummeting 80% on volume of just 150 shares today.
