$CHK: Can You Dig it?

Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE: CHK) is an oil and natural gas exploration and production company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of properties for the production of crude oil and natural gas from underground reservoirs.
The Dean’s confident that many of his students have heard of $CHK, especially because the company prides itself as “America’s Champion of Natural Gas,” and who could blame them—they own properties in 23 states around the country.
In fact, $CHK is one of the largest producers of natural gas in the nation and the most active driller of wells in the United States. $CHK‘s holdings include properties on the “Big 6 Shale Plays,” including the Barnett, Marcellus, Fayetteville and Haynesville Shale regions.
Between $CHK‘s Q4 2009 loss and discussions about the company on Mad Money, this stock has definitely been the topic of discussion over the past week.
