Morning U.S. Price Gainers for August 26: (GOK, DRL, GRB, JAS, CERP)

The Dean wants all of his students to study up on today’s morning U.S. price gainers:

GOK $5.05 +29.16%
Geokinetics Inc. (AMEX: GOK) provides seismic data acquisition, and seismic data processing and interpretation services to the oil and natural gas industry. Today, the Company announced that Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) has awarded its Mexican subsidiary a seismic acquisition contract valued in excess of $110 million. Today, GOK shares have gained as much as 42.96% on nearly three times their 10-day average volume.

DRL $1.57 +22.66%
Doral Financial Corporation (NYSE: DRL) provides a range of banking and financial services primarily in Puerto Rico and New York. After plunging approximately 50% in the past two weeks of trading, DRL shares more than 22% on no news this morning.

GRB $6.03 +17.54%
Gerber Scientific, Inc. (NYSE: GRB) develops, manufactures, distributes, and services integrated automation equipment and software worldwide. This morning, Gerber Scientific reported revenue and earnings for its fiscal 2011 first quarter ended July 31, 2010. Revenues increased 8.2% to $118.3 million, over $109.4 million, while gross profit was $36 million, or 30.4% of the Company’s sales, compared to $31.9 million, or 29.1% of sales. Trading as high as $6.87 per share, GRB shares gained nearly 34% this morning.

JAS $41.80 +13.53%
Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. (NYSE: JAS) operates retail stores under the names of Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, and Jo-Ann. Wednesday, the Company announced financial results for its fiscal 2011 second quarter ended July 31, 2010. Net sales for the second quarter increased 4.7% to $439.3 million, while net income was $5.4 million, or $0.20 per diluted share. After this report, JAS shares have gained more than 14% this morning.

CERP $3.75 +10.29%
Yesterday, Cereplast, Inc. (NASDAQ: CERP), a developer of bio-based resins, announced a multi-million dollar contract with RI.ME. Masterbatch of Italy to supply bioplastic resins for use in its masterbatch process for adding colorant to bulk, uncolored resins. CERP shares have gained more than 25% over Tuesday’s close of $3.26, trading as high as $4.15 per share so far today.
